SUV Prototype in San Francisco

Spotted this SUV with a Michigan plate wrapped in black plastic to hide its identity merging into traffic. Based on the tail lights, backup sensors and what looked to be fake tailpipes my guess is this is an electric Mercedes SUV...

Cool spot! How could you tell the tail pipes were fake?

I had the advantage of waiting at the traffic light next to this car, and when I glanced over the tail pipes just didn't look or feel right to me. I may be reading too much into it, but why bring a car to SF for testing unless you need the expertise of the folks here with electric self driving cars?

Thanks Andrew. Me and my wife love cruising across Southern Europe with Z8. I brought the car back to Istanbul last weekend from Trieste. Periodic inspection needs to be done. In september we are planning another roadtrip. This time Southern France and Switzerland.

Two years ago I met Peter Klutt of Legendary Motorcar Company at the Pebble Beach Concours while enjoying the 70-year anniversary exhibit of Ferrari. After introducing myself and explaining that I was a fan of his show on the Velocity (now Motor Trend) channel he offered up a tour of his showroom in Toronto. Fast forwarding to this past week, I found myself on a business trip in Toronto with a couple of hours to spare, so I took Peter up on his offer. His son Ryan actually conducted the tour for us, but it was great to see Peter again too. Here are some pictures taken with my iPhone 8 of his showroom.

If Canepa’s in Scott’s Valley is known for their work with Porsche 959s, Legendary Motorcar Company is known for Cobras. The blue Cobra was Carol Shelby’s personal car and the red one was original everything including paint. The Cobras are kept off the main showroom floor, and mentioning my meeting with Peter at Pebble Beach created that opportunity.

Hi Ed, Great story and pics. Looks like a pretty neat '70 hemi Cuda. I had a thing for the AAR Cudas.Regarding the Cobras, I remember growing up hearing Bill Cosby's "200 mph" routine.https://jalopnik.com/bill-cosby-tell...-story-5909694 Only later did I find out that it was for real. Shelby made 2 supercharged Cobras making 800-900hp. They were called Super Snakes. Bill Cosby temporarily owned one and the other one, that was blue, belonged to Carol Shelby.Best, Ted
