Forum Upgrade done!

Thanks so much to everyone who donated to our tech upgrade fund!

Things are now firmly in motion with the forum swapping over to a modern, cloud-based, and fully supported version of this old software.

We'll close this forum on Monday am, so please don't post after midnight on Sunday, or if you're new, don't register till we give you the all-clear, either later on Monday or Tuesday.

So will all members need to re-register? What about old, dead members…. Sometimes literally?

User records and post history will be preserved, but I'm not entirely sure if account passwords will carry over. If they don't, then you should have an option to reset your password which should work as long as your email address on record is current.

By the way, the Garage Gallery section is running on an old and disabled plug-in that we're going to lose in the transfer to the new system, so don't be surprised to see it gone. If we want to recreate something like it, we can just make a dedicated 'Owner's Others' section on the new forum.

Looks like it's gonna take a day or two longer to get everything done, sop be patient with us!

About to start the forum export. VBulletin says the transfer should take 24 hours or less, so hopefully things will be completed by Friday.

It'll take a minute to get everything running smoothly, the architecture and admin control is much deeper and more capable (complex) than the old one, so if anyone has questions, concerns or requests, post them here and we'll try to get it all perfected.

Glad to see the forum up and running again. Would it be possible to add a feature that at a glance would allow a reader to identify new posts without having to check the dates of the latest post in each category- ie, similar to the highlighted Roundel as found in the old forum? Maybe it is already there and I am missing it.........?

Try the “New Topics” button on the upper left hand side. That’s what I’ve been using to see the latest posts.

Why is it that at the Forum>BMW Z8 top level, it seems to indicate that I have unread posts in pretty much every thread? When I drill down into a thread, it properly only bold's entries I haven't read. This makes it very difficult to see when there's new posts I haven't read when at the Forum->BMW Z8 top level. Is this a setting or an issue?

That happens to me if I am not logged in. Do you see yourself logged in on the very top right?

Yes, I'm logged in. I'm used to seeing a thread in bold if there's something I haven't yet read. But even if I go into the thread, scroll to the bottom and select Mark This Channel Read, there's no change...thread still shows in bold (ie, not read).

So here's a weird forum behavior for you. I did a search and it returned multiple pages of results...see the problem? I'm used to seeing something like this 1 2 3 4 NEXT

Yes, I noticed that too, I think it's a 5 button summary of the total number of pages as I've seen the same behavior on another forum I'm on, but if you click the Next button it'll take you through all the pages in order numerically.
